High Paying Jobs For Teens 14 and Older

There are a lot of jobs teenagers could apply for but most just pay a little more than the minimum wage. That is not a good thing to hear for teenagers because they are usually the ones who need fast money. They either need to buy some CD that was just released or a limited edition merchandise of their favorite artist. No matter how shallow their need is, for teenagers, it is also important to earn money. It is not like their parents give them all the money they want. If that happens, every parent in the world will go bankrupt and all the businesses selling items for kids will be so rich they could dominate the whole world.

This just proves that teenagers are the perfect target market for most businesses. They are always eager to buy things so entrepreneurs could always count on them as consumers. This also makes their opinion valuable for business owners. Companies now invest in paying individuals to answer their surveys and they are especially focusing in the teen market. Because of this, a lot of teenagers are now getting jobs in paid survey websites. All they have to do is answer truthfully based on their preferences and they would get a considerable amount of money. This is considered a really high paying job because there is absolutely no difficulty in performing the task. With just little effort, these teenagers would be paid a high amount.

The only risk to this is there are a lot of fake paid survey websites. To be safe from scams, make sure to do a thorough research on reputable paid survey websites. Do not ever trust those that require you to pay some cash because that is a definite scam. Jobs for 14 year olds are available online. Just make sure not to be fooled to avoid getting ripped.

GPT Infinity is the #1 rated job for teens. Start survey filling today and make a big nice wad of cash!

Offshore Drilling Jobs - How To Get Hired Without Drilling Experience

So, you want to work an offshore drilling job. Do you know which companies are involved in offshore oil drilling? Besides the super-big players like Esso, BP, Shell, etc. Did you know that these big boys do not always do their own drilling? Quite often nowadays, they are forced to subcontract some of the work to smaller players.

Have you heard of these companies: Diamond Offshore (Houston, USA), Dolphin Drilling (Tananger, Norway), and Frigstad Offshore (Singapore)? How about Offrig Drilling ASA, Scorpion Offshore, Songa Offshore and Thule Drilling ASA? These are just some of the companies in the modern oil industry. In their own way, you can call them the modern wildcatters. During the last slump in oil prices, the giants like BP and Shell stopped investing in their staff and oil drilling technologies. But some smaller companies correctly predicted that prices would rise again. They invested in R&D to develop new drilling techniques and technologies. They build new oil rigs for deep-ocean drilling. These are the boys that Shell and BP are sub-contracting for oil drilling services.

If you want to work on an offshore oil drilling rig, you have two main choices. The path most people think of is to go on board as part of the drill crew. If you have prior experience, you will probably be a pumpman or derrickman. If not, you have to get in as a roughneck or roustabout. Drillers are pretty much the 2nd-in-command and assistant of the oil rig manager. Technically, a roughneck/roustabout is a laborer. On the other hand, how many laborers earn $50,000 per year for just 6 months of work every year? Unlike a normal laborer, who never gets the chance to work his way up to manager level, a roughneck with the proper attitude has a reasonable chance to become a manager on an oil rig. Of course, first he has to work his way through derrickman and driller.

This is not the only way to get an offshore drilling job. If you have some useful trade, like a cook or medic, this will be a good choice regardless of your offshore oil rig experience. You get the same generous living conditions of the drill crew, and better salary than a comparable job on dry land.

Just because it is an offshore oil rig does not mean it does not need office staff. No matter where you go, you can't escape paperwork. You'll still find your paper pushers. Except that on the oil rig they are called tool pushers. They work in the rig offices and rig floors.

You also have the mechanical department and electrical department. The mechanical department hires motormen, mechanics and maintenance supervisors who are responsible for all mechanical operations. The electrical department includes jobs like electrician, electronics technician and maintenance supervisors who repair and look after of all the electrical equipment.

An offshore drilling job is a very lucrative career. As you can see, you do not need drilling experience to get hired on an offshore oil rig. And now that you know there are companies other than Shell hiring people, you have many ways to get in on the action. You can get in as part of the drill crew, or as a tradesman.

Medical Assistant Job Description - What To Look For and How To Get Hired for Medical Assistant Jobs

A medical assistant job description will vary depending on the size, location and specialty of the health care organization or practice. It is common for assistant medical jobs in small practices to do many different tasks but in large practices they may specialize in just a few tasks. Generally speaking, a medical assistant job description will include both administrative and/or clinical tasks.

Assistant medical jobs are in very high demand right now. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has reported that assistant medical jobs are projected to grow by an astonishing 34 percent from 2008 to 2018. In fact, due to the expanding health care industry, it is one of the fastest-growing occupations in the U.S. today.

Medical Assistant Job Description: What Does a 'MA' Do?

A medical administrator or assistant helps make a practice run smoothly by performing several important administrative tasks such as:

* scheduling appointments
* updating and filing patient medical records
* handling billing and bookkeeping
* filling out insurance forms
* scheduling patient hospital admissions
* answering the telephone

In addition, assistant medical employment description may include some or all of the following clinical tasks:

* collecting and processing laboratory specimens
* sterilize and prepare equipment
* taking vital signs
* preparing patients for physical examinations or x-ray procedures
* educating and instructing patients about medications and diets
* administering medications
* authorizing drug refills
* drawing blood
* changing dressings and other first aid procedures

Apart from having the knowledge and skills needed to perform the tasks listed above, every medical assistant job description will also include good interpersonal and communication skills. Ideally, MAs should also be friendly and approachable.

One of the medical administrator's or assistant's responsibilities is to put the patient at ease and to answer any questions he or she may have about medications or tests. Doctors tend to be very busy people and sometimes patients don't want to waste their physician's time by asking too many questions. Part of the assistant medical employment description includes helping patients understand medical terminology. If the patient is confused by the doctor's instructions, the medical administrator or assistants job is to help him or her know what to do.

Medical Assistant Job Description: Education and Certification Requirements

Not all MAs have formal training in the medical field. Some have only high school diplomas and were trained on the job. Others have completed one or two-year programs in medical administrating or assisting. Vocational and technical schools, community colleges, junior colleges and online educational institutions commonly offer medical administrating or assisting programs.

Graduates of these formal training programs may apply for certification or registration with a professional organization for medical administrators and assistants. There are several organizations that give certification credentials for MAs such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and the Association of Medical Technologists (AMT). Certification or registration of credentials is not required but many employers do prefer applicants who are certified.

Depending on the specific assistant medical job description, other specialized training may be required. This will vary according to the practitioner's specialty. For example, an ophthalmic assistant medical job description may require the job candidate to know how to test eye muscle function.

Assistant Medical Employment Description: People Skills

As the medical assistant job description above shows, medical assistants are skilled in many different tasks and specialties. Not only do they have to know how to manage a medical office, they also have to be able to do basic clinical tasks. Nowadays, a medical assistant job description is likely to emphasize good people skills because that is what patients and doctors look for in an assistant.

Turn Up Your Listening Skills During the Job Interview

It's In The Ears

If you thought interviewing was only about answering questions, you've been missing the point. You've also been missing an opportunity to gather valuable information. Listening is one of the skills most underutilized by candidates. Most people go into the interview thinking and worrying about how they will answer the questions, and they forget that they are there to find out about the job and the company. They forget to listen, observe and read between the lines.

Ready to Answer Questions

The first candidate, Reena sat answering questions and waiting for her turn. When asked, "Do you have any questions?" she was ready and took out her list of questions.

Sounds like she did everything perfectly. Right? Not quite. She forgot one thing, and that was to listen. If she had been listening, she would have heard the emphasis placed on retention. There were at least three questions asked about her plans for the future; how long she planned to stay with the company; why she had only stayed with her last company two years. If she had been listening, she might have been struck by the focus of these questions.

"I've heard some concerns about retention in the questions you've asked me. Could you tell me the turnover rate for this department/company?"

If she had asked that question she might have found out the turnover rate was quite high. In fact, that was a big problem for the company. If she had been listening, her next question should have been, "Is there a specific reason employees leave?" She may, or may not, have a gotten a forthright answer, but she would have been able to make her own judgment, and observe the interviewer for signs of discomfort with the question. Observing is another way of "listening" or taking in information.

Turn up your Intuitive

Another candidate, Jerry, listened when he interviewed, and picked up the thread of questions pertaining to stress and long hours.

He asked, "On a scale of one to ten, with ten being high, how would you rate the stress and pressure levels in this department?" And then, "Is this the norm, or a seasonal level workload?"

He had already worked in a "sweat shop" where he was expected to work 60 plus hours a week. He isn't about to walk into that situation again. He noticed the two interviewers look at each other when he asked this question, and they agreed it was a six. Jerry figured that must mean an eight or ten, and continued to ask more questions about the subject. He listened carefully - reading between the lines. He gathered information he wouldn't have gotten had he not been on their wave-length - tuned in and listening. He now had enough information to make a decision as to whether he wanted to work for this company, in this department.

Rewards of Listening

When all you can think of is the answers that you will be giving, you miss a premium opportunity to garner information about the situation you are about to enter, if you take the job. The bonus of listening is that you impress the interviewer by the fact that you have heard what was said, and sometimes what was not said. The best questions you can ask come as a result of listening. Turn up your listening and intuitive skills. Read between the lines! You'll be surprised at what you hear.

Summer Camp Counselors: Just Who Exactly is Looking After Our Kids?

Breaking and Entering, Grand Theft Auto, Drunk in Public, Sex Offender. These charges seem like they belong to a career criminal. However, someone with this sort of rap sheet could be responsible for looking after your son or daughter overnight. Sounds scary? What if your child's counselor was a pedophile? While summer camps provide an opportunity for children to meet new friends and gain new experiences, their counselors may also pose a danger to the wellbeing of your child.

Let's be honest, summer camps won't hire just anybody. If a potential counselor looks like they may be a bad fit to be around kids, they probably won't be working with your children. Conversely, potential counselors who are either impressive in person or appear well qualified usually get hired. Most of the time, the counselors who are hired are a great influence on children and do their jobs well. However, as the old expression says "a few bad apples will spoil the whole darn bunch." Thus, no matter how many great counselors there are, it only takes a few undesirables to harm your child or disrupt his or her life.

It would be unfair to expect everyone to have a spotless past. Heck, we all get into a little trouble now and then. However, a criminal record (especially one involving children) is inexcusable for someone who is going to be mentoring or looking after our children. Though a reformed criminal is supposed to be considered a safe member of the community, most parents really don't want these individuals looking after our kids.

Even worse than having a criminal past may be those who are headed for a criminal future. According to a recent NY Times article, researchers discovered pedophiles that targeted camps with young children that were hiring counselors. These pedophiles then applied for jobs at the camps with one reportedly getting hired. Though it is disturbing to think about, working at a summer camp gives pedophiles an enormous opportunity to harm our children.

The time is now for children's summer camps to toughen up their counselor screening process. One simple method of achieving safer candidates for children is the background check. The common background check found at search sites like PeopleFinders.com can provide camps with a wealth of information about potential counselors including criminal history, residential history, aliases, age and marital status. This information can be used in numerous ways by a camp to eliminate a candidate immediately (as in the case of certain criminal convictions) or raise a "red flag" on a counseling candidate (as in the case of multiple aliases or residences). Therefore, background checks enable a camp more protection from potentially harmful counselors than do traditional hiring methods of interviewing and simple resume review.

Parents, however, don't have to rely on a camp to screen out detrimental counselors. The simplicity and inexpensiveness of online background checks allows parents to easily check on any member of their child's camp staff. These checks allow a parent to personally determine if a particular counselor is worthy of being responsible for his or her child.

In writing this article, it is our hope at People Search News that parents will not take for granted the potentially devastating effects a camp counselor could have on their children. Please inquire with your child's camp if their hiring process includes background checks. If it doesn't, you might be wise to conduct one on your own.

What You Should Do in Your Garden During October

October is the time when you should start getting ready for up and coming winter even though we are only a few weeks into autumn. The jobs that need doing this month involve tidying the garden and harvesting any grown fruit.

Your Lawn
Your garden lawn should be starting to slow down with less growth so you are only looking at one or two more cuts. On these occasions raise the cutting height on your mower to give the roots more protection over the up and coming winter months.

You may live in a cold area, if so now is the time to carry out any work to the lawn. Use an autumn lawn feed to help your lawn through the colder months.

Make sure any fallen leaves are cleared; these will block sunlight from getting to your lawn which could lead to your grass turning yellow.

Your Greenhouse
Now is the time to give your Greenhouse a clean. Emptying your Greenhouse completely will make this an easier job all round. Cleaning now will clear any dead plants making the area ready for the next season. Once clean you can put your plants back.

It's also a good time to think about insulating your Greenhouse, bubble wrap can work wonders and can also help bring the cost of your heating bills right down over the colder months.

It's important to ensure that you don't get your Greenhouse too wet at the moment. This could lead to mould and your plants dying off.

Despite the weather becoming cooler, you can still grow Sweet Peas during the next few months ready for Springtime ready to be planted out in March next year.

Your Vegetable Garden
Did you cut back any Asparagus you may have had growing last month? Well if not, make sure this is done this month.

Onions should be planted now to be ready for next Spring and early Summer.

You can cut off the tops of your Peas and Beans this month. These can then be cut up and added to your compost. Only dig the roots in the next time you dig the bed in, the compost will then act as fertilizer.

Maybe start to think about digging your beds over in the next few weeks, frost will then help to break lumps down.

You should be harvesting any Pear or Apple trees you may have.

Now is a good time to think about planting spring cabbages, do beware of the pigeons and make sure you cover these up.

Your Borders
If you have any herbaceous plants that aren't flowering or have simply got too big, these can now be divided.

With frost now threatening you need to look at removing any summer bedding before these plants are killed off.

If the frost has blackened your Dahlias it's time for them to be moved to a cold greenhouse so the frost can't get to them.

Flowering bulbs for Spring should be planted now. October is also a very good month to plant trees.

Garden Pruning
If you didn't cut back your hedges last month, then this is your last chance before winter.

Prune back your Budlia, Roses and Lavatera to about half. This will stop the wind from damaging the roots during the winter months as well as tidy them up. Tie back any shoots you have on climbing roses.

Garden Birds
If you have bird feeders and baths then be sure that these are now kept clean. Also keep them well stocked up with different bird feeds. This will help the birds you have been feeding over the next few months.

If you want to feed Hedgehogs over the coming months, then be sure to use special foods that are available on the internet or in pet shops. It's a common myth that Hedgehogs should be fed bread and milk, this can be dangerous to them, so do stick to foods that are available and you will be pleased to know that they love Slugs.
