Getting Real - Helping Teens Find Their Future - Book Review

I just finished reading "Get Real: Helping Teens find their Future" by Kenneth Carter Gray. I run a teen jobs website and I have read many books related to teen jobs and career exploration for teens. It is my opinion that this book is the very best in the career guidance category. This book is very different from most teen books out there. The author does not write about how to get teen jobs or resumes or interviews or any of the mechanics of the job search. Instead, the author focuses on why teens should pick a career path early and the benefits of choosing your career interests while still in high school.

The book is very will written and offers a wealth of current information as well as statistics and original ideas. It is obvious that the author has his PhD because the depth of research is extraordinary. What I like most about the book is that it explains how choosing a career is an individual experience and one size does not fit all. For example, the author suggests that most people go to college because they think they are supposed to. He challenges this idea and offers great alternatives for high schoolers. I also like how the author challenges other long held beliefs and really brings the reader up to date with what is happening real time in the entry level job market.

In closing I would recommend this book not only to high school students, but it should be required reading for all educators and parents.

Dan Keller is the CEO of the popular teen jobs website that focuses on part time jobs, summer jobs and a range of internship opportunities, ranging from marketing intern jobs to financial and artistic internships. Dan also runs a teens forum [http://www.teenmovement.com/] called Teen Movement.

Jobs For Kids Under 16 - Teen Job Review

The usual jobs for kids under 16 would be mowing the lawn of a neighbor, washing the car of your dad, cleaning the garden, crewing in fast food chains, being a sales clerk in a nearby grocery and some other part time work that most of which will require a work permit before you can legally start earning. With the modern skills of the young people nowadays however, more opportunities are becoming available to them that would not only give them an easier job but also a better paying one. These can be found in the internet. Some of the best ones available, especially the jobs for kids under 16, are the paid surveys being offered by various companies to research for opinions on their products.

The paid surveys are very flexible and simple. All the teenager need to do is register to as many websites of companies offering these paid surveys and answer the questions asked of them. These surveys indicate the age requirement and the teens could easily determine if the survey is for them or not. All they need to supply in the surveys are their own opinions which mean there are no possibilities of making mistakes. The payment for doing the survey will be sent to their address in a form of a check or may be deposited in their bank accounts which they need to supply along with their survey answers.

These surveys pay well, some ranging from $5 to $75. Others pay by the hour, about an average of $75 an hour. These are quite a decent amount especially for teenagers aged 16 and below. This allows them to buy their own whims without having to ask from their parents. This may even give them the chance to help their parents pay for their own education, or at least part of it, as a form of support to their parents.

GPT Infinity is the #1 rated job for teens. Start survey filling today and make a big nice wad of cash!

Book Review - Teen Dream Jobs - How to Find the Job You Really Want Now

I just finished reading, "Teen Dream Jobs: How to find the job you really want now!" by Nora E. Coon.  I must say that I was not overly impressed with the content of the book.  As the title suggests, the book is about helping teens find jobs.  The author provides information on how to find a job, resume advice, how to dress for the interviews and other advice for teen job seekers.  The information is good, much of it is outdated though.

Here job seeking advice seems more relevant to a job search in 1999, rather than 2009.  She hardly touches on the internet and the new job boards designed for teens and the wealth of resources available for teen job seekers.  The reality is that all of the information presented in this book can easily be found on the internet with a simple google search.  The author does not provide any new or cutting edge techniques that make it worth forking over money for.

What I did like about the book is the quizzes that she provides.  There are a variety of self assessment exercise that really get the reader thinking about what they like, and dislike, and what they are passionate about.  There is also a quiz that will help determine which career path would be most suitable based on your personality traits.  I actually took some of these quizzes myself and I must say that I found them to be quite accurate.

In closing, I found the book to have some bright spots but overall I felt the book did not provide enough new information to warrant a purchase.

21 Ten Opportunity Review, Will it Create Massive Residual Income?

The crowded nutritional supplement market has another competitor, with the recent launch of the 21 Ten opportunity a network marketing company. It has a highly respected management team and is backed by Oxyfresh, a successful 26 year old network marketing company. The 21 Ten opportunity appears to have a good chance of making it beyond the 95% of network marketing companies that fail within the first 2 years. The product, a powder nutritional supplement called Life Shotz comes in packs of ten sticks costing $25 for members and retails for $30. The company also has a personal development product that gives users access to motivational and inspirational messages each month as well as a section for health and wellness information. To be eligible for commissions distributors are required to set up an auto-ship of $100 per month or personally retail $200 worth of product. A distributors 1st 5 recruits and 5 retail customers roll up to their sponsor which may be hard to swallow after doing all the work.

This is most definitely a legitimate opportunity that provides the potential for residual earnings. Before joining this opportunity or any others in the network marketing industry, it is essential that individuals understand effective methods of marketing online, as efforts of recruiting of family and friends will most likely only result in frustration and failure. Learning how to brand ones self and produce free leads from multiple methods using the internet will achieve exceptional results, when combined with the right opportunity.
