Since the primary teacher will have to pay attention to the lesson, the assistant teacher will be freer to pay attention to the students. This also entails taking care of the children, despite the different developmental stages, especially in preschool or kindergarten. Some students may already be independent and can move around on their own without the need for round-the-clock supervision, while some students still need constant supervision and guidance. It falls upon them to support children, especially those with special needs, since the primary teacher cannot possibly focus on one student alone. It is also their responsibility to help children in various activities, such as in eating, toileting, and keeping up with the activities that are part of the lessons. Assistant teachers should also be ready to entertain and play with the children, especially when some of the kids are uncomfortable and are upset. The age of the children in the class affects the mix of responsibilities of an assistant teacher.

Aside from the responsibilities already mentioned above, an assistant teacher is also responsible for the preparation of any materials needed for the class activities. In special classes such as art subjects, the assistant teacher is, of course, expected to help the students in the use of scissors, glue, and the like. It is also their responsibility to prepare the classroom or set it up for the activities, and to clean up afterwards.

Assistant teachers can be fully qualified and registered teachers. However, they can also be simply teaching assistants, with no academic teaching background and prior experience. Teaching assistants are not qualified teachers. Teaching assistants are naturally guided by the primary teacher. The qualifications for teaching assistants are lesser. They just have to have around two years of formal education after high school.

The good thing about being an assistant teacher is that they also have opportunities to advance in their teaching career. They have plenty of opportunities to attend seminars and workshops especially for assistant teachers. These can help them improve their knowledge and skills that they use relating to their job. Aggressive Job Search Strategies For a Difficult Market

For those of you who are out of work, and conducting frustrating and fruitless job searches, you must use every method possible to get re-employed. In IT and Software, as well as in most fields, "there are jobs out there." We might be in a deep recession, with no chance of it ending in the near future. But that notion is a self fulfilling prophecy. Proactive people are getting new jobs everyday. Again, you need to do whatever it takes to get your career back on track, today!

You must make yourself the most employable candidate as possible to get that new job. If you lack strong interviewing skills, then get them now. If your resume doesn't convey a compelling case why you should be hired, then find someone to assist you. If you don't project a positive and proactive image and attitude, then change it. All the tools that you need are available. You just need to use them.

I see too many people who seriously impair their own job search. They don't know what they want, or they do know what they want, but they aren't qualified, unless they get more training. They are unwilling to even consider a position at a lower level. Remember, the longer you are out of work, the more difficult it will be to find a position comparable to your last one. Still, for some of you, a career change may be your only hope for employment. If so, get good unbiased advice, get training, and then from a more marketable position, start looking.

Certainly you can contact all the headhunters you want, or you can post your resume on every job board that interests you. But if you have been walking these passive paths towards a new job for three to six months with no success, then it's time to start running! Contact companies directly - even if that means knocking on companies' doors and asking to speak with the appropriate hiring person. I know this may sound extreme, but these are extreme times that call for bold and innovative action. Contact alumni from your alma mater; contact everyone you have worked with in the past who has even a remote chance of helping you. Follow up on every lead. Call, email and text message to the point of being a pest. And most importantly, do it now!

If you aren't being ultra-assertive, then get a career coach to help you discover, and develop that vital competency. Bottom line: you have to take yourself off auto pilot and break through the barriers that are between you and the job you want. You might be angry, depressed, scared, panicky, or feeling sorry for yourself, but honestly, companies could care less. They need people with the right mindset to give them 150% effort from the get-go, and those are the people who are "acing" the interviews and landing the jobs.

I hope my call to arms motivates you to develop a winning strategy and a winning attitude that to an employer makes "you" the best choice for the job. Stop listening to the naysayers and cynics who sap your energy and poison your pride. Forget about the media and its endless barrage of negativity. I know you can do it, and deep down, you know you can do it too. So, be prepared, be skilled, be positive and get out there and do it! Soon you will be moving up in success, rather than sinking down in failure.

Fact-Checking Job Applications Online - Search Resources For HR Professionals

I'm starting to see job applications pick up where I work, both because we're looking for people and because, in this economy, we're getting a lot more resumes than standard. It's a given that many of the applications and resumes we receive will contain some white lies - perhaps a creative job title, or an overstatement of nonprofit and volunteer experience. That's just marketing, in my eyes. However, when big huge whoppers are sitting right there on paper, it's a good sign that you can expect the same from the employee (if you're unlucky enough to hire that person). So we've instituted a practice of fact-checking the information provided in job applications.

First Step: Google

To be honest, this is more likely to be a character reference than a very good fact-checker. Because the social networking sites get so much traffic, and because searching a person's name will yield the most matches on their own profiles, probably what you will get when you search Google are Facebook and MySpace pages, Twitter accounts, and whatever other social networking sites the applicant frequents. It's sometimes useful to pay attention to any social bookmarking sites, like Digg or Delicious, because what they're reading online tells you a lot about them.

What you will rarely find on the first page, however, is public records information or other background on the individual. If you dig deep enough, you might get some additional hints that something is amiss, but particularly if the name is a common one, there's a lot of time lost make sure that the Chris Stevens in a Google search is your applicant. And don't even get me started if it's Chris Martin! (He's the lead singer of Coldplay. Ten billion search results, and your applicant is a needle in the haystack.)

So we use Google for what it's good for - finding out what the person does online nowadays. We're not a company that treats social networking as evil, but it's good to know if someone clearly spends all their time on sites like that. Especially if it's all completely frivolous. That's our time they're wasting if we hire them.

Some really smart job searchers are starting to use their social networking profiles as advertising for their applications. They are the most studious and professional Facebookers you've ever seen! Their Twitter feed reads like a person with a "Seven Habits" planner, and they mention reading industry-specific reports and blogs. You have to take it with a grain of salt, but I love it when I see this. That's someone who's focused on making an impression on interviewers before they even get in the chair.

Second Step: Fact-Checking with Public Records Search

Beyond Google, you have to look for a search engine that is going to give you results that help you verify all the information on the application - you need to look up current and old addresses, employment information, and also (it's sad but true) any records of encounters with the police or a criminal record. There are software packages that will do this, but many of them are prohibitively expensive for pre-screening. It may make sense to pay money for that kind of background check for a high-profile job or right before you make the offer, but at our stage, we're just looking to verify that the application is correct and complete, and doesn't omit anything (like a criminal record) that would make us reconsider the applicant.

For those kinds of searches, we use PeeplSeek's free search service. All it takes is an email address and they will give you basic search results for a given name. Even better, they limit the search by state so you'll find your Chris Martin and not the lead singer of Coldplay. Now, you did give them your email address, and they will send you email about people search services and online products, but you can mark them as junk or (like I do) set a filter to send them to a folder in Outlook or whatever email program you use. Every now and then, it's useful information. And anyway, once I register they'll give me as many basic searches as I like for free. I think it's a fair trade.

Third Step: Credit Check (Optional)

We don't do this at this stage, but some employers do because of the type of job involved. This will always cost some money, so it doesn't make sense for us to do this for every applicant. But when you're done with the interview and you think you might hire this person, you might want to run one (be sure you get their permission on the application!). You can use Equifax (they have a good product for HR) or any of the other major credit reporting companies and save money on individual searches.

Finding trusted employees crucial, and so this procedure has become standard for our recruiter. It's nice for me, too, since I sit in on interviews for title agents. It's so nice to have qualified, truthful applicants! It makes it much more pleasant for everyone.

What would make the search easier to wean out the scams from the legitimate jobs? A few simple things you can do!! Avoid envelope stuffing ads. They will ask for a small fee, however after sending in the fee instead you get a letter telling you to get other people, even your friends and relatives, to buy the same envelope-stuffing "opportunity". The only way you can earn any money is if people respond the same way you did. This is not honest and is very deceptive.

Avoid assembly and craft work. These ads will tell you that you can make money from home assembling products. However after investing hundreds of dollars on equipment and submitting your work, the company will tell you that your work is not up to standard therefore you are not getting paid.

Avoid rebate processing. This one has been a hot trend. The advertisement will tell you, "The #1 certified work-at-home consultant behind the program will show you how to succeed like she did". It will even promise you that you can process rebates for Fortune 500 Corporations. Don't be deceived. After you pay the training fees, certification, or registration fee the refund that you will make if any, will be nothing compared to the money you have dished out. Very few people ever see a refund. When you do receive your training material you quickly find out that there are no rebates to process.

Make sure with any work at home job, program, or business opportunity that you do your research. There are more schemes out there than legitimate jobs.
